Minding Animals Norge has now published a new website with information about upcoming conferences, seminars and other news from the academic field of human-animal studies.

Program for ‘Shared Worlds’

The preliminary program for ‘Shared Worlds’ is now available. The seminar is a Minding Animals Pre-Conference lecture event.  Minding Animals acts as a bridge between academia and advocacy, and provides an avenue for the transdisciplinary field of Animal Studies to be more responsive to the protection of animals, environmentalism included.

The program will include:
* 4 plenary speeches (read abstracts)
* a roundtable on the shared worlds of humans and horses (read more)
* a roundtable on the shared worlds of humans and wolves (read more)
* and a position note workshop on the relation between activism and academia.

Minding Animals Norway is being established; potential future activities will if there is any interest be discussed at the end of the seminar.

Pre-Conference Event in Oslo

Welcome to the Oslo Minding Animals Pre-conference Event blog.

The seminar will be held 14-15 October 2011, in central Oslo (Norway), hosted by the University of Oslo, Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law.

The overall theme of the seminar is “Shared worlds” in human-animal relations, with a focus on how humans and non-human animals co-construct their shared worlds. The shared worlds of humans and horses, and the shared worlds of humans and wolves are featured as subtopics.

Venue: Domus Nova, Oslo (St. Olavs plass 5 – room to be advised).
